England, Feb 4-14, at Alexandra Palace

First Fri in UK, looking south from Alexandra Palace over the city
From Ellie, Most of the time we have been here it's been snowing. We have a libary right next to us.All the houses are joined together and stright.

from sam it is very cold in england we have been here six days today and yesterday it was snowing.

From Lara:

I had fun in The Snow
And I went to the Library.

From Rosa:

i saw a biyo dinosauv at the museum. i liked the tube ride.

I've just completed my first 2 days at a lovely school in West Axton, a mere hour plus journey from home. Who would have thought I would be catching buses & swapping tubes like a true seasoned traveller. For me the most amazing thing is the vast range of different cultures, I counted 5 different languages being spoken on the tube. For a people watcher like me it's great. Not so great coming home in the dark waiting at the bus stop in snowy sleet. Mid-term break next week so no work & I can hopefully catch my breath & feel more organised & settled. I absolutely love being here & if I didn't have to work it wouldn't be far off perfect. Also having lots of pounds to buy some gorgeous London boots and a winter coat that covers my bum. We have done so much in a such a sort time, not only seeing things but all the paper work that goes on with settling & working in a new country. Despite the horror stories we heard for us opening accounts etc has been really straight forward NI number to get & we should be all sorted. Enjoy your summer while you can. Love Jac x x

  1. Ellie, I think it might be fun to be in the snow at first but then, after a little while it might not be so much fun. What do you think? I have been wondering how it feels to be in the snow all the time. How many clothes do you need to put on to keep warm?

Sam, I am hoping that you are not feeling too miserable when it is cold. I guess it will soon warm up a little bit and then it will be spring. Do you have good heaters at your house?

Hi Lara. What did you do to have fun in the snow? Are you allowed to take out lots of books from your library? I was wondering if you had a favourite book?

Rosa, I was surprised that you saw a dinosaur at the museum. Was it enormous? Do you know what sort it was? When I was in England I liked going on the tubes as well. I thought they seemed to go much faster than our trains.

Hi Jacqui and Phil, is there anything that you are missing already? If you need anything sent over just let me know

  3. Sounds like you're all having a great time - so glad the teaching went well. You sound like a seasoned traveller getting about by bus and tube - it's such a fantastic city and so interesting.

Great that you have a library so close guys and that you've seen all those things at the museums - the dinosaur is really huge isn't it? We really like the buildings in london - they're so different than in Nz aren't they/ Have fun in the snow!
